PILATES AND SOMATIC PRACTICES

The body is a network of psychological, neurological, emotional, and somatic circuits, and together with the mind it forms a single integrative reality — a psychosomatic self.

“Change occurs through movement, and movement heals.”
Joseph Pilates

Somatics is a field of study that focuses on the deep experience of mindful movement, starting from mind–body integration and enhancing self-awareness, health, and psycho-physical well-being.
Giorgia Gasparetto’s Pilates classes, based on the BASI method, blend her background as a dancer and choreographer with additional somatic knowledge: PNEI, anatomy and physiology, mindfulness, and elements of naturopathy, to offer a therapeutic experience (from the Greek, ‘the art of care’).

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THE CLASSES :

Giorgia is a great trainer and a great motivator. She knows how to combine different disciplines to create a truly personalized program. For the first time in my life, I was able to be consistent and engaged in my training.

Giorgia is an excellent instructor who offers several extraordinary techniques to get your body working properly and do things you wouldn't have expected or imagined before. Her Pilates classes are always structured to gently push you to your limits: somehow, she always seems to know when to stop at the right time, but at the same time, you feel ready to do more... and you end up wanting more. This also reflects another great coaching and personal skill she possesses: a sensitivity not only to the state of the student's body, but also to their mind, all done with great attention.

I met Giorgia during a very difficult period when I was suffering from severe back pain and severe sciatica that made it almost impossible for me to walk. Giorgia developed a specific program for me, following the physiotherapist's advice. Session after session, I saw significant improvements; I finally started walking again and exercising regularly like before. What I appreciate most about Giorgia is not only her professionalism, but above all her sensitivity and empathy, which always make you feel at ease despite the severe pain. After meeting her, my awareness of the little things in my body has increased, and I'm now much more aware of how to do things correctly to avoid severe bouts of intense pain.

After dislocating my shoulder during a yoga class, I was very cautious about exercising. But I needed to find a way to strengthen my shoulder and my body in general, without fear of injuring myself or doing something wrong. Giorgia is not only incredibly friendly, always kind, and very professional, but she truly knows her stuff. She chooses exercises based on your issues and your body's needs. She motivates you and pushes you to push your limits. She explains why a certain exercise is good for your body and shows you exactly, with great patience, how to do it. So you don't just do exercises, you do them the right way. I quickly started to feel the benefits of the classes.
